It is my honour and privilege to serve as the Head of BASM, a school which has rightly earned a strong reputation for providing a high quality British education in the heart of Marrakech. As a proud British Schools Overseas (BSO) accredited school, we deliver an authentic British education, embracing the traditions, values and ethos that define the very best of British schooling. Through high academic standards and exceptional pastoral care, we empower our students to become the leaders, innovators, and changemakers of the future. 

Our recent BSO inspection confirmed what our community already knew: BASM is a good school, with examples of outstanding practice. While this judgement reflects our high quality teaching and learning, our excellent pastoral care, and our above-average academic results, it also recognises something even more important. A school is more than just a building; a school is a community. We are fortunate to be part of a strong, collaborative community made up of caring and supportive families, dedicated and professional staff, and dynamic and aspirational students. Our greatest strength is our community.

That is why our core values, which guide everything we do, are Belong, Achieve, Become. 

Belong comes first and foremost because it is the cornerstone on which the others are built. Creating a strong sense of belonging and a genuine sense of community is the foundation of everything we do. Every child deserves to be known, valued, and supported as an individual. Strong relationships lie at the heart of our school because children thrive when they feel safe, respected, and understood. A strong sense of belonging gives young people the confidence to take risks, embrace challenges, and grow into the strong and compassionate leaders of the future. 

Belonging to our community gives our students the confidence and support to achieve. We want every child to strive for excellence and achieve their full potential. Academic excellence is important and we are proud of the high grades our students achieve. However, achievement extends far beyond exam results. Achievement is about the progress each child makes in every aspect of their own development, as they grow intellectually, socially, emotionally, and personally. We celebrate the development of traits like curiosity, confidence, creativity, and skills like leadership, teamwork, and critical thinking, just as enthusiastically as we celebrate academic success. Our good grades stem from the holistic development of our children, providing them with the traits, skills, and passions, from which academic success naturally flows. 

Through the support of belonging to a strong community, and through the achievement of their own personal growth and development, we want every child to become the best version of themselves. We want our students to become the leaders of the future, pursuing purposeful and fulfilling lives, and making positive contributions to the wider world. Most importantly, we want our students to become kind, compassionate, strong, resilient, respectful, empathetic, independent and principled adults, regardless of whatever career or vocation they choose to pursue.
