At BASM, we believe that learning is a lifelong process that should be a rewarding and an enjoyable experience for everyone.  Through our curriculum and teaching we focus on inspiring our children to learn, equipping them with the skills, knowledge and understanding necessary to be independent lifelong learners.

We are proud to offer a broad and balanced curriculum that creates opportunities for pupils to excel in a range of activities that enhance and extend the British National Curriculum. Children have opportunities both inside and outside the classroom.

Pupil's learning within the foundation subjects is organised into topics.  Alongside these topics, children develop their basic skills of reading, writing and maths every day to ensure a broad foundation for learning. We encourage reading, writing and maths to be fully embedded within the whole curriculum.

At BASM children are taught phonics through ‘Letters & Sounds’.  Throughout the school, the children have access to quality texts and books from a variety of reading schemes, including regular visits to the school library.

Through our curriculum and teaching, we aim to:
